Inclusive Construction
Emil Anderson Group is committed to working effectively as a trusted partner alongside the Indigenous communities in which we operate. Our Indigenous Relationships Team takes steps to engage early, build trust and understanding, and develop meaningful relationships with our partners.
We actively listen and learn about each community, their capacity, needs, and collective goals for our projects. Depending on project type, we develop site-specific Indigenous Inclusion Plans that outline our goals, key performance indicators, and tracking, as they relate to Indigenous employment and spending.
Building Together
We believe it is our responsibility and duty to move towards positive reconciliation in Canada, and we feel our business can make a meaningful impact on Indigenous communities. Where possible, we seek to formalize partnerships that enable proactive project collaboration and long-term economic benefit, including preferred hiring practices, access to in-field mentoring and training, subcontractor opportunities, and community contributions and participation.
Amplifying Traditions
“United” at The Vedder Bridge An Indigenous art installation adjacent to EAC’s Vedder Bridge Replacement Project designed by Squiala First Nation Chief David Jimmie and Coast Salish artist Bonny Graham, in consultation with the Stó:lō Nation Chiefs Council and Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe.
Englishman River Kw’a’luxw
Emil Anderson Group recently donated 71 acres of land to Nature Trust of BC to ensure the conservation of the Englishman River Kw’a’luxw, including protection of the forest and species at risk on Vancouver Island.
This agreement recognizes the Snaw-Naw-As (Nanoose) First Nation as a rights holder to manage their lands and resources.
